The Wine Society has reported that 2025 was its best Christmas yet, with the highest sales in its 151-year history.
Reaching £34.1m, the retailer reported that sales were 2.6% higher than during the same period at Christmas 2024.
It also saw the largest number of members shopping during the period, which spanned nine weeks from early November to the end of December.
Consumers purchased a larger quantity of, and more expensive, wines than last year, the Wine Society said.
Within this wider trend, Champagne sales were up by 8% in value compared to last Christmas. Meanwhile, sales of fine wines increased by 7.5%.
At the same time, the retailer announced the successful launch of its corporate partnership with Amex, which was conceived in response to member demand.
Steve Finlan, CEO of The Wine Society, said: “A challenging year for the wider wine industry, we are delighted with our achievements this Christmas, and thanks to our unique mutual model, we were able to focus squarely on member satisfaction.
“Due to the significant increased costs in 2024, we had to operate a very tight business, homing in on market-leading value for our members at the expense of profit – who in turn rewarded us with choosing to buy their festive wines from us.”
