Henkell Freixenet has acquired a 60% stake in the Irish importer and distributor Cassidy Wines.
Based in Dublin, Cassidy Wines was first formed in 1977, and according to Henkell Freixenet, has a deep knowledge of the local market, as well as long-standing customer relationships.
As it looks to expand its presence in the country, Henkell Freixenet continued that Ireland has attractive growth potential, with the sparkling wine market having recorded a CAGR of 6% over the past ten years.
It said that, in collaboration, the two companies could work in a mutually beneficial way, as Cassidy Wines follows the aim of becoming one of Ireland’s leading distribution companies.
In the alliance, Henkell Freixenet said it would use its international portfolio and global network to help Cassidy offer a broader portfolio. Meanwhile, Cassidy Wines will continue to operate from its modern bonded warehouse, based in Citywest.
Andreas Brokemper, CEO of Henkell Freixenet, said: “Cassidy Wines has an excellent reputation, deep roots in the Irish market and strong, long-standing relationships with customers and suppliers.”
At the same time, Neil Cassidy, MD of Cassidy Wines, added: “This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for our business.
“For our customers and partners, it means access to a broader portfolio while continuing to work with the Cassidy Wines team they have come to know over the years, with the same high-quality, tailored service and commitment they value today.”
