UK importer Graft Wine has bolstered its premium sparkling range with the addition of Champagne Pertois-Moriset, a third-generation grower based in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.

Graft heaped praise on the grower following a standout showing at Wine Paris earlier this year. With a particular focus on Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs styles and a pragmatic approach to sustainability, the estate was founded in 1951 following the marriage of Yves Pertois and Janine Moriset – both of which represent two established winemaking families from the Côte des Blancs. Today, it is run by granddaughter Cécile and her husband Vincent Bauchet (pictured), who have overseen a period of significant investment and modernisation.

Bauchet said: “In the vineyard, I want to get as close to organic farming as possible, while staying pragmatic when the weather demands it. What matters is respecting nature and my terroirs, not ticking boxes. In the cellar, my approach is simple – intervene as little as possible and let the terroir express itself with some oak, mostly stainless steel and above all, time. This is how my Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs from the Côte des Blancs reveal the full minerality and purity of their terroir.”

The estate spans 35ha across four key areas, including 15ha of Grand Cru Chardonnay sites in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Cramant and Chouilly. It also has holdings in the Coteaux Sézannais, the Aube and Bisseuil in the southern Montagne de Reims.

For Graft, the addition reflects a continued focus on terroir-driven producers and low-intervention approaches that align with its broader portfolio strategy.

MD David Knott said: “Pertois-Moriset was my standout new find at Wine Paris this year. The wines come from superb vineyard sites… and really lean into the Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs style, with an amazingly diverse range of how Chardonnay can be expressed in Champagne.”

He highlighted the producer’s restrained approach to dosage – typically between 1.5g/L and 2.5g/L – which he said delivers “bright wines with good acidity and bags of energy”, while retaining fruit weight and accessibility.

The range now available in the UK through Graft comprises four cuvées: L’Assemblage NV, Les Quatre Terroirs NV, Chouilly 2018 and Les Hautes Mottes 2017, spanning both multi-vintage and vintage expressions of Blanc de Blancs.

Graft is an independent UK importer and distributor which evolved from the team behind Red Squirrel in 2019. Seven years later, under the stewardship of MD David Knott, it is known for sourcing wines from top low intervention vineyards, with a nod to tradition and sustainability.
