Virgin Wines has promoted Amanda Cherry to chief financial officer, following current CFO Graeme Weir’s decision to retire.
Weir has been with the company for 22 years and will step down from the board on April 4. Cherry will assume the CFO and company secretary roles on the same day.
Cherry, current head of group finance, has been at Virgin Wines for 16 years.
Jay Wright, CEO, said: “We would like to thank Graeme for his enormous contribution to the group and wish him well in his retirement. He has played a vital role in the group’s significant progress and growth over the last 22 years. It has been a privilege to work with him over that period and he will be missed by the whole Virgin Wines team. However, I look forward to progressing the next stage of our growth with Amanda, who is well embedded in the business, and welcome her to the board.”
At the same time, Virgin Wines is marking its 25th year. Celebrations start in March and run through until the end of the year.
Wright added: “We have plenty of exciting plans including a special collection of 12 commemorative wines that will be released throughout the year. We’ve worked closely with our winemakers to create something really special and reflective of the unique way that we create wines. From a very special Champagne crafted purely from red grapes for extra red fruit flavours to top tier Argentinian Malbec, there’ll be plenty to sip and savour.”
Wright also said tasting events this year would be “bigger and better”.
