Fortnum & Mason has unveiled a collection of fruit-forward red wines, to tap into the growing consumer interest in chilled red wines.
Each bottle in the range has been carefully selected to be enjoyed lightly chilled, which the retailer says will “bring out their bright fruit, freshness and versatility”.
Newcomers to the collection include Fortnum’s Beaujolais, produced by Maison Piron; Fortnum’s Valipolicella, crafted by award-winning winemaker, Marinella Camerani at the renowned Corte Sant’Alda estate; Fortnum’s Monastrell, by pioneering Spanish winemaker, Rafael Cambra; and Fortnum’s Dăo Tinto, by the famous Niepoort estate in Portugal. Also new is Marta Maté El Holgozan Ribera del Duero, a vibrant Tempranillo with ripe blackberry, cherry and subtle spice; and Fortnum’s Old Vine Garnacha, from acclaimed winemaker, Fernando Mora MW.
The new wines sit within a dedicated Chilled Red Wine section of the retailer’s website, alongside other wines such as Anselmo Mendes Pardusco Vinho Verde Tinto, which is a revival of a historic style and the name given to Portugal’s light, low alcohol reds that age well. Bottled reds and rosé wines are joined by a premium bag-in-box red, designed to be enjoyed chilled: Niepoort Nat Cool Tinto Dăo.
The retailer said: “Whether paired with charcuterie, grilled meats, picnic spreads or Mediterranean dishes, these reds offer a refreshing alternative to traditional summer serves.
“Crafted by some of Europe’s most celebrated winemakers, including Maison Piron, Marinella Camerani, Rafael Cambra, Niepoort, Marta Maté and Fernando Mora MW, the collection showcases the very best of light, expressive reds that are made for long lunches, garden parties and relaxed evenings outdoors.”
