The company said the Botany Creek range was aimed at consumers looking for a wine without a strong alcoholic taste.

The launch of the 7.5% abv brand is being backed by consumer sampling and POS.

Botany Creek comes in a white style with citrus and tropical flavours and a rosé with strawberry.

They will be packaged in 75cl screw-top glass bottles and retail for between £2.69 and £3.29 in take-home, Halewood said.

Head of innovation Richard Clark added: “We have created a fruit-flavoured wine that appeals to the original generation of consumers that discovered RTDs and have now broadened their repertoires, as well as women who are looking for an alcoholic drink that does not necessarily have the stronger alcoholic taste found in some higher ABV products.”
