The Wine Australia and New Zealand Winegrowers trade bodies have partnered to run an in-person trade masterclass.

Following on from a collaboration in 2023, where Wine Australia and New Zealand Winegrowers ran joint tastings in Copenhagen and Stockholm, the masterclass is a first for the UK.

It will be held in The Castlefield Rooms in Manchester on June 17, and will showcase 10 wines from across Australia and New Zealand, with an additional 50 wines in a free-pour tasting. All of the wines featured on the day are available in the UK.

Chris Stroud, New Zealand Winegrowers market manager for Europe, said: “We’ve chosen Manchester as it is a vibrant city easily reached from across the North and Central regions of the country. There is a strong core of independent wine merchants as well as a lively on-trade scene in key cities, which we hope to attract to this event.”

The 90 minute session will be presented by Wine Australia’s Emma Symington MW, alongside wine writer and consultant Rebecca Gibb MW. It will run from 10.30am to 12pm and again from 2pm to 3.30pm.

Laura Jewell MW, Wine Australia regional general manager for UK/EMEA, said “the tasting will showcase Australia and New Zealand’s distinctive terroirs, vibrant winemaking communities and thrilling wines”.
