The Wild Beer Co has invested more than £500,000 in a canning line, alongside a branding overhaul for its canned range of beers.

With the new canning line the company said the risk of oxidization has been severely reduced, and it has been able to increase its sell by dates from six to nine months, allowing it to reach further afield both domestically and globally. Packaging time has also been increase allowing it to boost numbers from 1500 to 6000 cans per hour.

Three of its existing cans are soon to go into production, including Bibble, a 4.2% abv Pale Ale; Fresh, a 5.5% abv Extra Pale Ale; and Pgo, a Pale Ale with passionfruit, orange and guava.

Two new cans ‘Yokai’ and a New England cloudy pale ale are also slated for release this winter after successful keg road testing.

The equipment has been bought in advance of the proposed new Wild Beer destination brewery on the Bath and West Showground site. Planning pernission has recently been granted from Mendip Council.

Wild Beer recently won Best Drinks Producer in the BBC Food & Farming Awards.
