Baron Philippe de Rothschild Maipo Chile is introducing its new three-tier Mas Andes range of wines from the Maipo and Maule Valleys to UK off-trade customers.

Managing director, Emmanuel Riffaud, said: “We are thrilled to present this new range of varietal wines from our own estates in both the Maipo and the Maule valleys of Chile, which are amongst the most exciting wine producing areas of the country. With Mas Andes, which means ‘beyond the Andes’, our objective is to go even further in the search for the expression of the Chilean terrroir. We use all the diversity of this patchwork of terroirs and our French know-how to create wines with a strong identity.”

The Mas Andes range is available to the UK trade via Waddesdon Wines and comprises: Mas Andes, described as a ‘pure expression of varietal style’ (rsp: £10); Mas Andes Reserva, which has subtly oak-ageing to provide an extra layer of richness and structure (rsp: £13); and Mas Andes Gran Reserva (rrp: £17), described as ‘the very best from Maipo’, aged in oak barrels for eight months.

Managing director of Waddesdon Wines, Christopher Campbell, said: “We are excited to introduce these wonderful expressions of the Maipo and Maule Chilean terroir and believe they offer a strong opportunity for our customers. Chilean wines are in growth in the UK and the forecast is for that to continue. Added to that, there is an overall trend in the UK towards premium still wines and so the timing is perfect.”
