The Portuguese wine region Vinho Verde is launching a new marketing campaign in the UK.
The EU-funded campaign, which starts this month, aims to shine a light on the region’s premium wine offering in the UK.
Activity will include consumer festivals, sommelier events with key Portuguese chefs, influencer marketing and press activity.
Dr Manuel Pinheiro, president from Comissao De Viticultura Da Região Dos Vinhos Verdes, said: “We are thrilled to launch this new campaign in the UK. We see a real opportunity for Vinho Verde in the UK, as the Brits have a real love affair with Portugal and the increasing demand for fresh white wines with character.
“Nonetheless, there are many layers left to be revealed from this region to dispel myths and show off a cooler side of Portuguese wines. We have worked with Sopexa in several markets around the world and we look forward to launching into some new activities in the UK.”
Frederic Dersigny, managing director for the UK branch of Sopexa, said: “Viva Portugal! We are so pleased to start working with Vinho Verde in the UK and to extend out work with them in the Sopexa network.
“I have really been impressed by the increasing presence of Portuguese chefs, restaurants and the interest in the wines in the UK and I believe Vinho Verde has all of the right ingredients to have a real impact on the UK market.”
