Vagabond Wines has opened the doors to latest venue based in Soho, London, which offers the company’s largest-ever selection of 140 wines by the glass, as well as a wide selection of bottles for the take-home market. The new outlet supports Vagabond’s ambitious plans to attract a new, younger generation of wine lovers to its venues. These new curious wine drinkers can also discover and explore wines to take home in stores under its parent company, Majestic Wine.
The 6,000 sq ft Soho location is Vagabond’s largest and most ambitious venue to-date. Backed by the Majestic Wine Group and Fortress Investment Group, the opening underscores Vagabond’s long-term growth strategy to “redefine modern hospitality” with the overall aim of attracting a younger, digitally engaged generation of wine lovers.
John Colley, ceo of Majestic Wine Group, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Vagabond’s growth alongside the team at Fortress Investment Group. Today’s launch in a prime Soho location underscores our long-term strategy to scale Vagabond’s unique concept across the UK and welcome a new generation of curious and adventurous wine drinkers into the Majestic Wine Group.
“I truly believe that Vagabond’s blend of eclectic wines, unique guest experience and cutting-edge technology is the future of wine hospitality in the UK and we are fully committed to growing the brand in other major towns and cities outside of London in the coming years.”
Vagabond’s newest venue blends immersive interior design with its signature self-pour taps. The venue features a staircase lined with traditional riddling racks and a curved central bar with wooden panels that mirror the shape of wine barrels. There is an exclusive private dining space, large enough to carer for 40 guests.
The 140 wines by the glass include a host of award-winning wines produced just five miles away at its Urban Winery in Canada Water. Its latest eclectic vintage – including its Solena, Chardonnay, Dios Mio, Pinot Noir, and Night Tripper orange wine – saw it crowned Producer of the Year at the Independent English Wine Awards earlier this month.
Christobell Giles, managing director of Vagabond Wines, said: “Soho thrives on breaking rules and pushing boundaries, so it is the perfect home for our new flagship site. I am so pleased to finally be joining the amazing mix of bars and restaurants in the district, and our team can’t wait to introduce thousands of new guests to the Vagabond experience.
“Ordering wine in central London can often feel like a bit of a non-event, but we want to hand the reins back to the consumer and give them an experience they will remember, every time they visit.”
