A collection of drinks described as “the UK’s first myco-adaptogenic alcohol-free beers” is set to launch this September.

The premium alcohol-free craft beers claim to bring “the ancient wisdom of medicinal mushrooms to the modern mindful drinker” and the trio of myco-adaptogenic beers deliver functional and positive benefits to the consumer, according to the producer.

Fungtn, which launches early September, is the UK’s first craft beer to be brewed with myco adaptogens, which are a class of fungi known for their health benefits. They have been used in medicine for thousands of years and have no psychedelic properties.

Fungtn will launch for the off and on-trade with three skus: Lion’s Mane IPA, Reishi Citra Beer and Chaga Lager. All three are vegan, gluten-free and use functional levels of high quality, organic medicinal mushroom.

The producer said in additional to the health benefits associated with medicinal mushrooms, brewing the beer with myco adaptogens also “enhances the depth and body of the beer”, resulting in a fuller viscocity and classic beer mouth-feel that is not usually associated with alcohol-free beers.

Mindful drinking consultant Zoey Henderson was instrumental in bringing Fungtn to fruition during the 2020 lockdown. Henderson, who has 15 years’ worth of experience in the hospitality industry, first discovered medicinal mushrooms when in California and said she has been fascinated by the fungi ever since. Having spotted a gap in the market for an alcohol-free craft-beer with functional benefits, the Fungtn trio of drinks was born.

Henderson said: “I’m excited to be launching Fungtn this summer and introduce people to the incredible power of myco-adaptogens.
