Pierre Mansour has been appointed Head of Buying at The Wine Society, effective from March 2017.

The appointment follows the news earlier this year that Tim Sykes has chosen to step down after five years in the position in order to focus on a purely buying role as part of the team of eight buyers.

Mansour has 20 years worth of experience in the wine trade, having spent the last 13 as a buyer and then buying manager, most recently responsible at The Society for the major areas of Champagne and Spain.

Robin McMillan, ceo, said: “The Head of Buying is a key position at The Wine Society and this appointment follows a robust process with a good deal of interest from both internal and external candidates. So we are naturally delighted to see Pierre, a senior member of The Society’s existing buying team, successfully come through and be appointed as head of buying and join the executive team. We are equally delighted to be retaining the considerable experience of Tim Sykes.”

Mansour has worked at The Wine Society wince 2000 in a range of roles, including tastings & events manager and more recently, buying manager. Before that he worked at Vinopolis, and prior to that he held roles at Berry Bros & Rudd and also the Antique Wine Company.
