The Wine Society is now open for business again having made “vital changes to its warehouse operations” to ensure the safety of its staff.

It is now offering a reduced service and it said it expects demand to be high. The online retailer said wines are available to order in full unmixed cases, which will either be 12 or six-bottle cases.

Liz Cerroti, director of sales and experience, said: “Some wines will sell out quickly; in the event of this, you will see a list of recommended alternatives on the wines’ individual web pages.”

She also noted: “It is also important that we ensure that all members are treated as fairly as possible. With this in mind, we reserve the right to reduce very large orders if necessary.”

The Wine Society closed temporarily on March 23 for the first time in its 146-year history. It made the decision to close because it wanted to put the safety of its staff first, and at the time it was operating with just 50% of its usual staffing numbers while also dealing with a huge surge in sales.”
