The Wine Society has launched Ex-Château, a new programme giving members access to rare, mature and sought-after wines.
The Society said that the programme builds on its long-standing relationships with producers and estates, bringing together celebrated producers and outstanding vintages.
It said that the programme will work on a rotating basis, with a new selection of producers set to feature each year.
For the debut launch, Ex-Château includes back vintages from Paul Jaboulet Aîné, which has now closed.
In addition, the second and larger release will focus on Rioja, with back vintages from La Rioja Alta, Muga and CVNE.
On the programme, Alex Turnball, head of fine wine at The Wine Society, said: “Ex-Château is about giving members access to mature wines that are genuinely difficult to find, with the added reassurance of impeccable provenance.
“Our relationships with producers allow us to offer wines that have remained in their cellars since bottling, giving members a rare opportunity to experience these wines at their point of maturity.”
