Sainsbury’s has announced it plans to launch a seasonal ‘Festive Fizz’ pop-up bar in London next month to celebrate its range of sparkling wines.

The bar, which will be near Trafalgar Square on Pall Mall, will be open for just three days between December 7-9.

The retailer said it has curated a menu of five premium sparkling wines from its Taste the Difference range to showcase at the pop-up bar. The collection will include a Cremant De Loire, Prosecco and Pignotello, and the drinks will be served by the glass “for a temptingly tasty price”.

Alongside the drinks there will also be a selection of sharing platters, highlighting some of the treats on sale this December. Platters will include charcuterie meats, antipasti, speciality cheese and other festive options.

Consumers can secure tickets to the pop-up bar via EventBrite. Entry is free but booking is required and the Think 25 scheme will be implemented.

The activity forms part of a growing trend for pop-up bars over the past 18 months. This summer Vins de Bordeaux introduced a summer wine bar in London, while last summer Tesco opened a Tesco Finest wine bar in Soho, across an eleven-day period.  Also in 2016, Aldi opened a pop-up wine retail outlet during London Wine Week.
