Rebel Distillers has created a vodka made from smoked bone marrow with a new partnership linking the brand to the blockbuster video game Doom.

The limited-edition Bone Vodka is the brainchild of spirits industry innovator and Rebel Distillers founder, Matt McGivern. As part of a partnership with Bethesda Softworks, the newcomer will celebrate the upcoming Doom Eternal video game, which is set for release on November 22.

Rebel has also partnered with London butchers The Ginger Pig to ensure the vodka is made using the finest quality and ethically sourced beef bones and organic ingredients.

McGivern said: “We are tapping into one of the world’s favourite hobbies, video games, to offer a unique perspective in spirit production. Doom Eternal is a world of flames and demons, a barbeque pit with action – a smoked bone vodka is certainly a new take on spirit provenance.

“We are also excited to partner up with The Ginger Pig. They are one of the best butchers in the country where animal welfare is unparalleled, and a product often wasted can be put to good use. We will be making a limited amount of the product in the lead up to the game’s launch in November.”

The vodka is made from an organic wheat base. Once the bones have been roasted and smoked, the marrow is extracted and macerated in neutral grain alcohol. To extract the best flavour and the clearest spirit it is distilled at a very low temperature in a vacuum still.

The vodka is available for pre-sale via the website priced at £45 for 70cl. The first batch will be dispatched at the end of September.
