William Grant & Sons reported a 13% drop in profit between 2024 and 2025, according to its latest annual results.
The distiller and distributor reported turnover of £1,758 million and profit before tax of £337 million, pointing to difficult market conditions and ongoing geopolitical and trade pressures.
The company, which owns brands including The Famous Grouse, Glenfiddich and Hendrick’s, also noted weak consumer demand, which it said had affected industry performance.
At the same time, William Grant & Sons said it continued to focus on long-term shareholder value through significant brand investment, acquisitions and expanded distillery capacity.
The company pointed to its acquisition of The Famous Grouse and Naked Malt as examples, with both purchased from Edrington in July 2025 for an undisclosed sum.
Likewise, it named the expansion of Girvan Distillery on the west coast of Scotland as an example of futureproofing.
Graeme Jenkins, CFO at William Grant & Sons, said: “2025 was another challenging year for the spirits industry, with external pressures affecting performance across many of the company’s key markets.
“Against this backdrop, our focus has been on outstanding execution, while at the same time maintaining our long-term approach to brand and distillery investment.
“While the results reflect the current operating environment, our confidence in the long-term fundamentals of the spirits industry remains strong.
“The company will continue to take those actions that ensure we are well positioned to benefit when market conditions improve.”
