A Portuguese online wine retailer has organised a live-streamed two-day virtual trade event to help Portuguese wine producers present the wines they were going to bring to international trade fair, Prowein.

The event (called Portugal Wine Week), is free for all those involved and it is aimed at trade professionals from around the world, including importers, sommeliers and retailers. It will be held on the same dates as Prowein was due to take place (March 16 and 17).

The digital event, organised by online wine retailer Adegga, will consist of a series of interviews with dozens of wine producers, hosted by Andre Ribeirinho as a Portuguese wine correspondent, and it will also include some guest speakers.

It will be streamed live from both Lisbon and Porto via www.portugalwineweek.com and registration is now open via the same website.

Ribeirinho told DRN: “The event will comprise of a live stream with interviews and there will also be the opportunity for producers to set-up private meetings with potential clients afterwards. The full programme will be on the website next week.

“Adegga has organised several virtual wine tastings with consumers in the past. Portugal Wine Week is the first virtual wine event we have organised for professionals, but we will have an experienced technical and event management team behind us.”

He also noted that Adegga will provide all of the contact details and support for industry professionals who are interested in any particular wines or producers and might want to arrange a meeting or tasting session in the future.

This is the first of a series of innovative events Adegga is launching this year to support Portuguese producers and promote their brands worldwide. Later this year, Adegga will be launching a US-focused Portugal Wine Week, that will bring Portuguese wine trade ambassadors together to celebrate Portuguese wine.
