The Oxford Wine Co has appointed Marcia Waters MW as wine buyer.

Waters, who achieved her Master of Wine qualification in the early 1990s, started out as a buyer for Victoria Wine before working as wine controller at Tesco, wine buyer at Rothschild Waddesdon and general manager at Anglo American Farms UK, which owns South African wineries Boschendal and Vergelegen.

She is currently chair of the education and examination board of the Institute of Masters of Wine.

Oxford Wine Co managing director Ted Sandbach said: “I am really pleased that Marcia has joined us. She will bring massive experience and a host of invaluable contacts. As well as a buying role she will involve herself in all aspects of the company and continue to undertake WSET education and private and corporate tastings.”

Waters, who lives near Thame, said: “This is an excellent fit geographically but also the chance to work with an exciting and innovative company which, over recent years, has become a dominant player among the independent merchants.”
