Online fine wine retailer Crurated has moved into high-end spirits.

The company, which launched in 2021 as a block chain-based retailer, kicked off its move into spirits with the launch of Samaroli Macallan Single Cask 1997. Consumers will be able to bid for the whisky, which has an estimated market price of around £5,150.

The release calendar also includes bottlings from The Glenturret, Royal Salute and Dictador.

“This move is a testament to the unwavering commitment by the Crurated team to deliver unparalleled access, quality and authenticity to our global community of members,” said Alfonso de Gaetano, CEO and founder of Crurated. “Our team is changing the paradigm in spirits, as we successfully did with wine and will continue to do so as we expand into other verticals. Moving into the spirits market will excite our existing members, provide us with opportunities to attract new customers and nurture people’s passions across both categories and beyond.”

Crurated features four different memberships, ranging from free up to around £515 per month. Membership types come with “additional benefits”, including being able to store bottles, access rare vintages, and attend events. Purchases come with a blockchain code, “which provides transparency and asset value protection”, the company said.
