Off Licence News is launching a raft of activity at this year’s London International Wine Fair to increase the show’s appeal to independent retailers and help maximise its business-building potential.

Working exclusively with OLN, fair organiser Brintex is sponsoring a new bursary scheme offering assistance towards the cost of travel to the show. The first 150 retailers to register and visit the fair will each receive a £50 contribution, which could also be put towards arranging for additional staffing to enable them to attend. We will give more information on how to enter soon, but you’ll need to be a specialist off-licence, wine merchant or own a small chain to qualify.

In addition to assisting with the cost of attendance, OLN will for the first time host the Independent Business Lounge – a new, invitation-only area aimed exclusively at specialist retailers to make their trip as stress-free and commercially valuable as possible.

The area will be a key destination point for retailers and serve as a base for independents to plan and catch up between meetings. We will also be running free one-to-one business clinics with experts covering issues such as how to manage foreign exchange and direct sourcing. The sessions will be bookable in advance.

Independents will be offered a range of other benefits aimed at supporting their businesses, including first sight of new research into trends in the sector and invitations to join wine walks designed to give insightful snapshots of what’s on show at the event, which takes place at London’s Excel on May 22-24.

OLN will bring you more information on its activity for the Independent Business Lounge over the coming weeks.
