North South Wines has been appointed the exclusive UK distributor for South African producer DGB, effective from 1 July.
According to the distributor, both the sales and distribution operations currently managed by DGB will be transferred to North South Wines Limited.
The company said the move marks another step in DGB’s commitment to building its brands, strengthening its market presence and enhancing customer service across the UK.
North South Wines added that DGB has more than 340 years of winemaking expertise and is recognised as one of South Africa’s leading producers.
The company has been named Best South African Producer by Mundus Vini for five consecutive years and boasts an extensive portfolio of brands.
These include Boschendal, Bellingham, Franschhoek Cellar, Fryer’s Cove, Avontuur, Backsberg, Old Road Wine Co, Douglas Green and Tall Horse.
In line with North South Wines’ B Corp accreditation, DGB also places a strong emphasis on sustainability.
The producer is currently South Africa’s only fully verified carbon-neutral winery, has the Western Cape’s largest solar power installation, is a shareholder in a glass recycling business and harvests its own rainwater.
Greg Guy, international director at DGB, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with North South Wines Limited. Their proven track record, specialised sales structures, dedicated distribution capabilities and strong customer relationships across multiple channels make them an ideal partner to support the continued growth of our brands in the UK market.”
Kim Wilson, MD and founder at North South Wines, added: “We are delighted to be partnering with DGB. Boschendal was the first winery I visited 20 years ago while on holiday, so to now have this prestigious brand, along with others in the DGB portfolio, represented by North South Wines is both an honour and a privilege.”
