Waitrose boosts own-label offering
Waitrose is stocking a new own-label wine range which buyers have sourced from some of the world's best-known producers.
The supermarket's wine buying team worked closely with suppliers such as Villa Maria in New Zealand and Hubert de Bouard in Bordeaux's St-Emilion to come up with one special blend from each of 10 different regions.
The range includes wine from St Hallett Winery in Barossa, Viña Valdivieso in Chile and Cave de Vignerons, Chablis. Wines range from £6.99-£14.99 and will be available in all stores and through Waitrose Wine Direct.
Labels will also clearly state the supplier for each wine.
A spokesman said: "The suppliers were all selected for their special expertise in producing wine from their particular region or grape, and for this reason each supplier's name and logo will be showcased on the front of the bottle, with the traditional 'house' label."
