New look for French sparklers
French sparkling wine brand Veuve du Vernay has been relaunched with new-look packaging.
The Patriarche-produced Veuve du Vernay Brut NV and Brut Rosé NV have both secured listings in Tesco and the Co-op.
The Brut is a blend of 40% Colombard, 40% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Chardonnay.
The rosé is made from 100% Tempranillo and is described by the producer as "fresh and fruity on the nose, complemented by smooth, velvety bubbles, with
raspberry and red fruit flavours on the palate".
The brand is being positioned "as a cheaper alternative to
cava and Champagne", according to a spokeswoman.
"With an rrp of £6.99 it should help consumers save their pennies without having to cut all things sparkling from their shopping lists," she said.
It will be available in the UK through Fulham-based Patriarche Wine Agencies.
Export director Vincent Goyat added: "We have plans to extend the range over the coming months."
