Greene King goes greener with less glass
Greene King has reduced the glass in
its bottles by nearly 25% in an effort to
cut its impact on the environment.
All 12 of the brewer's brands will be packaged in the new
bottles, including its flagship
Old Speckled Hen, Ruddles County and Greene King IPA .
The front, back and neck labels have been revamped in a bid to "bring all the brands under a generic bottle", according to take-home director Neil Jardine.
The changes will mean the brewer saves more than 1,500 tonnes of
glass each year.
Managing director Justin Adams added: "The 80 -90 g
of glass we're losing per bottle is good,
although may seem modest, but
the overall impact is enormous.
We will also save up to 150 tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum, purely as a result of lightening the
load for delivery vehicles."
