High praise for Top 100 Vins de Pays

The sixth Top 100 Vins de Pays Competition was hotter than ever, according to judges.

OLN's Tim Atkin MW, who chaired the

ANIVIT and Inter Oc event, run in association with OLN, said: "It was good to see more rosés coming through and Sauvignon Blanc has been the star this year."

Rosemary George MW, wine writer and a competition judge

, said: "It's a great competition . The fact that entrants don't have to pay

gives producers that might otherwise have been overlooked a great opportunity."

Tesco buyer Graham Nash said: "Overall the quality gets better every year. Vins de Pays offers more flexibility as producers are able to innovate as the regulations aren't as strict as AOC."

Trophy winners revealed in next issue.
