LIWF visitor figures drop 7%
The combined visitor figures for the London International Wine Fair and Distil were 7% lower than those for 2008.
Organiser Brintex described the result as “excellent” and said a record number of visitors had attended on more than one day – 5,562, up 3% on last year’s previous best.
The net visitor figure for the two events – which ran alongside each other at London’s ExCel exhibition hall last week – was 13,893.
LIWF and Distil set a record attendance figure in 2008.
Event director James Murray said: “Despite the best efforts of the UK recession, global economic collapse and the threat of swine flu, we’ve seen excellent results.
“Distill, which welcomed 6,190 visitors over the three days, has strengthened its position as the dedicated spirits event to the trade, and exhibitors throughout both events have been really positive about the future.”
Wednesday was the busiest day, when just short of 7,500 people passed through the shows’ doors.
The 2010 event will be at ExCel from May 18 to 20.
