Ban loyalty rewards’
A leading doctor has called for a ban on supermarkets giving loyalty points with purchases of alcohol.
Dr Brian Keighley, chairman of the British Medical Association in Scotland, made the claim in a debate at the BMA’s annual conference.
Keighley said: “Most alcohol bought for consumption is from supermarkets.
“There is a need to send the right message in drinking behaviour by not allowing rewards for buying alcohol.”?The debate also saw doctors repeat calls for a complete ban on alcohol advertising and the introduction of minimum unit pricing for drink.
