The Whisky Exchange's third store will focus on local and distillation
The Whisky Exchange’s third store, which is set to open this month, will feature more than 100 spirits and wines produced in Britain to reflect the community’s support for local and artisanal products.
The new shop takes the company back to its original home in London Bridge and it will house more than 2,500 spirits and wines.
Dawn Davies MW, wine and spirits buyer, said: “For the new store we have identified the most exciting spirits trends and curated a selection of products that will help customers to take their exploration of these categories to a whole new level.
“We will be flying the flag for the growing number of innovative British based distillers and wine-makers, as well as focusing on more specific spirits trends such as world whiskies, from the popular American and Japanese spirits to much more unusual liquids from far flung countries such as Israel and New Zealand.
“Following a great Christmas for rum sales we’ll have over 200 different rums on the shelves and, for those cutting back on alcohol, there will be an impressive range of low and no alcohol products. My passion for wine shines through in this store, with a hand-picked selection of exquisite wines from some of the world’s best wineries.”
The shop is 2,162 square foot, which marks the biggest single floor of any of The Whisky Exchange stores. It has been designed to “capture the imagination of spirit lovers” with floor-to-ceiling shelves of “every spirit imaginable”. Like the other stores it will also be home to a bottle chandelier, comprising 700 bottles and spanning close to 30 metres.
This store will have a particular focus on distillation and specifically distillation education. It will become home to a fully functional pot still, as well as an education space where guests will be able to learn about distillation themselves.
Rajbir Singh Sawhney, co-owner and co-founder of The Whisky Exchange, says: “Finding the perfect space for the new store took a long time, but has been well worth the wait. We were determined to bring The Whisky Exchange back to our loyal customers in London Bridge following the closure of our shop in Vinopolis four years ago.
“In keeping with the regeneration of the London Bridge area, we’ve designed a stunning store with floor-to-ceiling shelves of great liquids for customers to get lost in the world of spirits and wine, with space downstairs where we will take our spirits education mission one step further.”
The store will open at the end of January with the official launch event set for February 6.
