C-stores urged to enter the 2020 Drinks Retailing Awards
Neighbourhood and community drinks retailers are being urged to enter the 2020 Drinks Retailing Awards.
The call came from the 2019 winner after the 2020 awards opened for entries this week.
The UK’s leading awards programme for the off-trade has a category for Convenience Drinks Retailer of the Year.
The award is made to the independent convenience drinks retailer that has most effectively used beers, ciders, wines and/or spirits to improve their business in the previous 12 months.
Branches of multiple chains, members of fascia groups, individual franchise outlets and stand-alone independents that combine a strong alcohol section with a broader retail offering are all eligible to enter. Specialist off-licences providing a great service to their communities are also invited to enter.
The 2019 winner was Dike & Son, a family-owned store whose roots go back to the 19th century in the village of Stalbridge in Dorset. It has a stunning drinks section combining premium and mainstream brands in all BWS categories, which it markets through effective merchandising and strong promotions.
“To win the award was beyond fantastic,” said company director Adam Vincent.
“It proved to be a welcome boost for the whole team and business in challenging retailing times.
“Members of the team felt a renewed sense of pride and passion for the department and new customers showed interest in the store as a whole after us publicising the award.
“Another added benefit of us winning the award was the new relationships forged with suppliers, new and old, as a result of them wanting to work with a retailer who had had just been crowned a 2019 drinks retailer of the year.
“As a result of all of these different things coming together it is safe to say winning the drinks retailer of the year award was a massive positive boost for us all here at Dike & Son, and we wholeheartedly encourage everyone to enter the award as it is incredibly positive journey.”
Entries to the 2020 are open now here and there is no charge to enter. Entries close on August 16, so don’t delay.
