Gallo introduces Apothic Dark to the UK

Premium wine brand Apothic is “inviting consumers to embrace the darkness” with the launch of Apothic Dark.

The newcomer is the latest addition to Gallo’s premium wine portfolio and it joins Apothic Red, which is now the number one brand in the New World Premium red wine blends category, according to Nielsen data (12/08/17).

Dark has an abv of 14%, and is has bolder, richer taste than Apothic Red, according to the producer. The company said it is perfect for “those who are looking for an affordable and high quality red wine”.

The wine has been created using a unique blend of four distinct Californian red grapes including Petite Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Zinfandel. It is described as having flavours of blueberry and blackberry and with notes of dark chocolate and coffee.

David Mallory, channel director UK impulse and on-trade, said: “Apothic is all about creating unique blends with bold flavours, brining a more mysterious and modern edge to the wine category. As its name and label suggests, Apothic Dark has a denser, darker profile than Apothic Red and will appeal to those who want to explore more complex and drier red blends.
