PLB has given its top-tier Chileno Gold wines a new name and look. The collection, which has been rebranded
Chileno Gold Reserva, is made up of three single varietal wines : Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère, priced at £5.99. "We wanted to give the range a more sophisticated look," said brand manager Claire Summersby. "Several new premium cues have been incorporated into the labels to help consumers who enjoy the entry-level Chileno wines recognise the Gold Reserva level as the next step up."
Champagne Pannier has appointed Bottle Green
its off-trade representative in a move to increase its ability to satisfy UK customer demand. Jerry Lockspeiser, managing director of Bottle Green, said: "We have been searching for some time for a Champagne partner who can deliver a real point of difference in the growing, but crowded, UK market." Champagne Pannier produces a full range of Champagne from Brut Tradition up to the Egerie de Pannier deluxe cuvée.
Southall-based wholesaler J&J Wines has joined the Landmark Wholesale Group. Owner
Jaswant Singh Sandhar, who started running his business from a garage eight years ago, said the "time was right" to join a group. The wholesaler will continue to sell 6,000 lines of grocery, alcohol and non-food goods from its London warehouse and will stock Landmark
own-label brands including its spirit range, Prince Consort, and the Vintners Collection wine range.
Bordeaux Wine Council (CIVB) has developed a multi-lingual website to promote wines from the region. The site,
www.bordeaux.com, will promote the 57 appellations to a global audience in an "uncomplicated and easy-to-navigate way". With colourful maps and photographs to emphasi se Bordeaux as a travel destination, it is divided into chapters so users can access sections of interest including tasting events. CIVB marketing director Pascal Loridon said: "There is strong promotion for Bordeaux tourism and châteaux trips through the addition of a database of over 600 châteaux that can be visited."
Ehrmanns has launched Rosario, a range of Chilean wines from its Viña Misiones de Rengo estate, which will be exclusive to the independent and wholesale sectors. The range will include a choice of varietal and reserva wines, expected to retail at around £4-5 and £6-7. The varietal range is made up of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Cabernet
rosé, while the reserva range consists of Carmenère and Chardonnay.
