Old Pulteney Single Malt Whisky is holding a charity ball on June 1 to mark the 60th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition in Wick. Hosted by comic Brian Hennigan, the Prohibition Ball will include live music, dancing and a presentation of the first Old Pulteney Community Award and the Old Pulteney Maritime Award. Maxxium UK's French liqueur Cointreau is linking up with the Cannes Film Festival, which is now in its 60th year. The partnership includes a branded presence at events , parties throughout the festival and the creation of a limited edition Cannes cocktail, the Cointreaupolitan Star, which will be served as the official drink of Cannes' red carpet ceremony.

Inver House Distillers has been announced as the official partner to Highland 2007 - a celebration of Scotland's Highland culture. A programme of events will cover arts, sport, heritage and language, and will include a music festival in Inverness featuring Elton John , and the O'Neill Highland Open surf contest. Old Pulteney Single Malt, Balblair Single Malt, anCnoc malt and Speyburn will be served at events throughout the year-long celebration.

Bruichladdich has announced an increase in profits of 29 per cent for the year to Dec 31 2006, bringing its turnover to £5.3 million. Chairman Sir John Mactaggart said: "This performance continues the improvement in both profitability and turnover achieved over the past three years." In the past year the distillery has doubled prod uction to 650,000 litres, Mactaggart added.

The SWA has launched the latest version of its Distilleries to Visit brochure, giving information on more than 40 distilleries and visitor centres open to the public, including opening times and facilities for people with disabilities. The 2007 brochure is available at Pernod Ricard's latest ad campaign for Stolichnaya will be launched in some 150 cinemas nationwide today (May 4). Running with the strapline Choose Authenticity, the campaign is designed to build on the brand's authentic Russian heritage with the ads recreating images from poster art and propaganda used during the Russian Revolution.
