set for Beck's Fusions
Beck's has announced the full band line-up for its Fusions event at Manchester's Castlefield Arena from Sept 4-6. Alongside Massive Attack and United Visual Artists, the art and music event will now include performances from up-and-coming New York disco revivalists Hercules and Love Affair and fellow New Yorker Santogold, along with Antipodean talent from The Presets and Midnight Juggernaugts, Das Pop (Belgium), Sonny J (Liverpool) and Manchester's own Elektrons. Saturday will also see a special appearance from infamous, international street artist Zevs.
New look for Chilano
Chilean brand Chileno is to be relaunched as Chilano. Co-owned by PLB and Viña Ventisquero, it consists of seven varietal and dual -varietal wines (rrp £5.99). The new-look packaging aims to give the brand "a more premium and traditional look", with the C-shaped logo incorporated on the main label and the inclusion of a description of where the grapes come from. Specific region and vintage information is shown on a smaller, separate label and all the wines have been put under screwcap.
Hail storms destroy harvest
Maverick Austrian producer Willi Opitz has seen hail storms wipe out 15% of his harvest, and reports that
producers in the red wine-focused Burgenland region south of Vienna have seen even worse losses. Susanne Staggl, marketing manager from Austrian Wine Marketing Board, said small hail storms have effected "almost all
Austrian wine growing regions" but there is no indication "that they have been worse than in other years".
Rock sponsorship for SJ
Sailor Jerry will be the official spirits sponsor of the Kerrang! Awards on Aug 21. Distributed in the UK by First Drinks Brands, the spiced rum brand will be served with Coke or
ginger to guests on arrival, and at the after-show party. The tie-up builds on the brand's ongoing link with music to drive awareness and trial within its target market of 21 to 35
year
olds.
Véniat steps down from Latour
Maison Louis Latour has appointed a new commercial director. Bruno Pepin will succeed Michel V éniat, who plans to retire at the end of the year following
30
years
with the
company. Pepin previously worked as export director for Bouchard P ère et Fils and William F èvre. He said: "One of my main objectives will be to explore
opportunities in developing countries while maintaining the
market penetration that Maison Latour already has."
Suszczenia returns to Parfetts
Former general manager at Parfetts Halifax, Greg Suszczenia, has returned to Parfetts Cash & Carry as part of the senior trading team. Suszczenia re-joins
after leaving four years ago to set up his own independent convenience store.
