Former Aberdeen Wine Rack manager is back in business
The manager of a former Aberdeen Wine Rack has gone into business with one of his regular customers.
Jim McQueen, who worked for First Quench for 23 years, said the closure of his shop in Fountainhall Road had felt like “a kick in the teeth”.
But now he has decided to go into business with entrepreneur and loyal customer Nick Garrett.
McQueen said: “We are looking forward to opening an independent wine shop called Fountainhall Wines in my old branch in Aberdeen.
“The administrators surrendered the licence, so we are hoping to get it back at the beginning of June and open the shop in mid-June.
“It’s taken some time to get here and there are new challenges to overcome, but we have been meeting suppliers who have been very supportive. It’s clear from previous customers that they cannot wait to visit us when we open again.”
