McKeon plots Cobra push
Former Beam UK managing director Adrian McKeon plans to take Cobra Beer beyond its reputation as a niche Indian beer and establish it in markets outside the UK and India when he joins the company in mid-July.
He is to join Cobra as chief executive, while founder Lord Karan Bilimoria will move to the role of executive chairman.
McKeon, who is currently on garden leave from Beam, told OLN: "The intention is to build on the work that Karan and the team have started in terms of establishing Cobra not just as a niche Indian restaurant beer but actually to establish its credentials as a premium lager, both in the mainstream sector of the market, potentially through draught, but also look at markets other than the UK and India." He added: "I can't wait to get started, I think it's a fantastic brand. There's a real buzz about it."
Jonathan Stordy has replaced McKeon at Beam.
