UK-based RTD brand Moth has announced plans to increase its focus on the UK convenience channel following a successful £11 million funding round.
Already well established in UK retail, Moth said it is experiencing its fastest rate of sales to date across grocery, with particularly strong growth in the convenience sector.
The investment, led primarily by Puma Growth Partners, follows one of the brand’s strongest years yet. Moth reported turnover of £20.9 million, up 67% year on year and 146% over the past two years.
The brand said its growth reflects the wider momentum behind canned cocktails, with the category now accounting for 27% of the UK’s £787 million RTD market.
Sam Hunt, co-founder of Moth, said: “When we started Moth, the idea that a cocktail from a can could genuinely be delicious and rival one from a bar felt like a provocation.
“Now we’re selling one every four seconds and the momentum we’re seeing across grocery and convenience is the strongest it’s ever been.”
Alongside its UK expansion, Moth also announced plans to invest part of the £11 million funding into growing its presence in the US.
Having entered the US market in 2023, the brand said it is now outpacing the cocktail RTD category across California, Florida and Illinois.
Ben Leslie, investment director at Puma Growth Partners, commented: “Moth is one of the most exciting brands in RTD and we are delighted to have led the company’s latest investment.
“The team has built impressive momentum across both grocery and convenience in the UK, with clear evidence of repeat purchase and market share gains and now setting sights on replicating that success in the US.”
