Morgenrot has extended its selection of low alcohol beers from the Netherlands with the launch of a new “fresh and fruity” sour beer called Fruit Machine.

The new VandeStreek beer, which joins the producer’s award-winning Playground IPA, will be available to the UK’s off and on-trade in 33cl bottles.

Fruit Machine is an alcohol-free 0.5% abv sour beer brewed with raspberry and blueberry, and made using Amarillo and Cascade hops.

Playground IPA , which was launched into the UK in January 2019, is also alcohol-free (0.5% abv) and it is amber in colour. It is brewed with five types of American hops, resulting in citrus and tropical flavours as well as a “nice bitterness” and strong lasting finish.

Morgenrot’s commercial director, John Critchley, said: “Since we started working with the team at VandeStreek Brouwerij earlier this year the reaction from our customers to their beers has been fantastic so it was a no-brainer to extend the range in time.

“The no and low alcohol category continues to grow year on year with new brands, breweries and beers popping up all the time so it is vital we stay ahead of the competition by offering the best around and in the VandeStreek Brouwerij we definitely have that.”

Ronald Van De Streek, co-founder, said: “We are thrilled to extend our range with Morgenrot and after visiting the UK frequently over the past year I have seen with my own eyes the appetite for quality low and no alcohol beers of differing beer styles.

“The feedback from UK consumers to our Playground IPA was tremendous so we are excited to see their reaction to the innovative and flavoursome Fruit Machine.”

The brewery was set up by brothers Ronald and Sander Van De Streek who began brewing beer in 2010 in their flat in Utrecht in the Netherlands. The brothers began brewing commercially in 2013, following a crowdfunding campaign.
