Morgenrot, the Manchester-based beer and wine importer, has enhanced its world beer collection with a lager from Malta.

The award-winning Cisk Lager is a 4.2% abv beer, with a history dating back to 1929 in Malta. Cisk is a golden-coloured, bottom-fermented lager with a “distinctive and well-balanced” character. The beer has a rich hop aroma and is described as being the “perfect thirst quencher and a refreshing summer beer”.

John Critchley, Morgenrot’s commercial director, said: “We’re delighted to add Cisk to our burgeoning world beer portfolio. Cisk is a premium imported Mediterranean lager and is a great fit for us. With the summer already on the horizon, we are confident the brewery’s pursuit of quality and unique heritage will be a popular choice for operators and consumers.”

The beer is produced at Malta’s leading independent brewery Simonds Farsons Cisk, which was established in 1928.

The brewery’s company director, Michael Farrugia, said: “We’re confident that with our beer’s quality and Morgenrot’s energy and expertise, we can do amazing things in the UK market.”

Cisk will sit alongside a raft of world beers in Morgenrot’s portfolio, including Krombacher, Quilmes, Tucamen and Tribaut, amongst others.
