Majestic Wine has appointed retail veteran Alex Jablonowski as its new chief financial officer.

The firm has made sweeping boardroom changes since Fortress Investment Group purchased it from Naked in a £95 million deal last year.

Former managing director John Colley returned as chief executive, and he has overhauled the c-suite in a bid to refocus the retailer on deliver long-term growth.

Jablonowski joins from the Oasis & Warehouse Group, and he previously worked at Hamleys, Tesco and Costa Coffee.

“Alex brings a wealth of experience to Majestic, having worked in a range of international, multi-site retail businesses,” said Colley. “I am sure his background in helping to build business strategies, at the very top level with previous private equity experience, will be hugely beneficial in order to create value and growth to this company.”

Last month Majestic managing director Josh Lincoln and chief customer officer Natalie Thng left the business as part of a boardroom shakeup.

Former Tesco BWS boss Robert Cooke was promoted to chief commercial operator, Keith Blessley is now retail director and Nick Workman is IT director.

I am confident that we’ve built the right team for the challenges, and opportunities, of the future.”
