Majestic has reported a strong financial performance in 2025 in its Companies House report filed this week.
Despite economic headwinds, the company showed a rise in overall revenue from £385,479 in 2024 to £386,236 in 2025. Its gross profit was £91,106 compared to £89,016 the previous year.
The operating profit of the company was, however, down from £21,773 to £16,022.
The retailer stated this was largely due to government changes to tax and policy, a lack of Easter trading, the cost of opening and closing stores and the cumulative impact of minimum wage increases.
In its review, Majestic noted the success of its growth plan, illustrated by the opening of six new stores over the past 12 months.
At the same time, however, the retailer conceded unexpected expansion hurdles, notably the unplanned closing of stores in Ealing and Epsom due to landlord development events.
The acquisition of Vagabond was a major event for Majestic this year, but also a costly one, according to the Companies House report.
Including the cost of closing the Vagabond at Battersea Power Station for refurbishment, costs associated with the acquisition of Vagabond reached £2.3m.
Nonetheless, Majestic said it has ambitious targets for Vagabond in 2025/2026, including continued expansion in both London and other major metropolitan locations in the UK.
Likewise, looking forward, Majestic said it continues to hold a growth focus with Enotria, which it acquired this year in April.
For 2026, Majestic said it plans to grow its customer base and product range, something it has already begun to do through an expansion of its low & no range, alongside its partnership with Perfect Draft self-pour beer.
It also noted its ongoing goals of opening new Majestic stores, as well as accelerating its commercial business in the on-trade, where it gained 832 new customers this year.
Reflecting on the year Majestic Wine Group executive chairman and CEO, John Colley, said: “This was a transformative year for Majestic. We grew revenue year-on-year and our profits were in-line with expectations, reflecting the investments we made in our growth strategy.
“We opened six new Majestic stores, acquired the Vagabond wine bar business, and laid the foundations for three experiential new bars in prime London locations, which opened in the autumn.
“Shortly following the year-end, we also completed the acquisition of premium wines and spirits distributor Enotria, re-positioning Majestic as the UK’s largest premium end-to-end drinks specialist across retail, wholesale and hospitality.”
