Love Drinks has secured the distribution rights for White Heron Drinks, which produces British Cassis.

British Cassis, which was founded by Jo Hilditch in 2005, is a blackcurrant liqueur made using fruit from Whittern Farms in Herefordshire, which has been in her family for four generations.

Hilditch appeared on Dragon’s Den and after rejecting four offers from the Dragons the brand secured key listings in retailers such as Waitrose.

The move to Love Drinks will help the brand ramp up its NPD plans and secure new premium listings in the on and off-trade.

Kirsty Loveday, founder of Love Drinks, said: “Jo and White Heron are a perfect fit for Love Drinks from a values and culture point of view. The company is British born and bred and showcases female entrepreneurship at its best, whilst oozing authenticity, provenance and quality. The company ticks a lot of boxes with consumers right now, so we look forward to nurturing this new addition to fulfil its potential here in the UK.”

Hilditch, said: “We’re delighted to be a part of the Love Drinks portfolio and look forward to working with Kirsty, Samantha and their passionate team to continue our growth and enable us to expand our range plus frontiers in the coming years. “Mixologists are smashing down walls in search of the next big combination and the liqueur category is becoming an Aladdin’s creativity cave for them. Our British Cassis is versatile, original, it works in a range of low alcohol serves and always adds real elegance to a drink. Hopefully we can inspire bartenders to ‘dare to be different’ and put their own stamp on our liqueur.”

British Cassis is a British take on a classic French crème de Cassis. It is made with pressed blackcurrant juice and uses a technique which draws on classic winemaking in order to capture the intensity of fresh British blackcurrants. The juice is then fermented naturally with Champagne yeast and it is then blended with a little vodka to fortify and sweeten. The 15% abv drink is available in 5cl, 20cl and 50cl bottles.
