Organisers of London Wine Fair (LWF) have confirmed the 2024 show will go ahead at Olympia, following an announcement that the Great British Beer Festival (GBBF) would cancel its event at the same venue.

Earlier this week, the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) said ongoing building works could affect the organisation being able to host GBBF, which was set to take place at Olympia in August.

However, LWF organisers have said the show, which takes place in May, will go ahead as planned.

“The on-going building work at Olympia will not affect The Grand Hall, the location of the London Wine Fair, next May,” said event director Hannah Tovey.  “We have been in close contact with the team at Olympia regarding any potential impact since works began in 2022 and receive constant and detailed updates of the redevelopment work.”

Tovey said she has recently visited the site with the Olympia team and the building project’s lead architect.

“We were fully briefed about any minor adaptations we may need to consider for 2024 but, as with the 2023 show, there appears to be no impact of significance or concern,” she added.  “The London Wine Fair team is much enthused by the Olympia project and can see that the vast improvements will be a huge benefit to the exhibition industry and beyond as Olympia evolves into one of London’s most exciting destinations.

“We were delighted to sign a three-year tenancy with Olympia after the 2023 show and look forward to welcoming the drinks industry to the 2024 edition of the London Wine Fair from May 20-22.”
