Fine wine trading platform Liv-ex has launched a new API (Application Programming Interface) allowing members to automatically integrate critic scores and tasting notes from Jancis Robinson’s website directly into their internal systems.
The integration connects data from JancisRobinson.com with Liv-ex’s trading and market intelligence tools, enabling merchants, brokers and retailers to access critic scores alongside pricing and market data in a single environment.
Keeping critic scores up to date across backend systems and websites has traditionally been a time-consuming and error-prone task for wine businesses. By automating the process via the new API, Liv-ex aims to simplify how merchants manage critic data and reduce manual updates.
“Being able to view Jancis Robinson’s scores alongside Liv-ex market data in a single environment helps wine businesses make more informed decisions surrounding buying, selling and pricing fine wine,” Anthony Maxwell, chief commercial officer at Liv-ex, said.
The system works using Liv-ex’s LWIN identification system, which assigns a unique code to each wine, similar to an ISBN used for books.
At its core, the integration is designed to help wine businesses make faster and more informed decisions. Members can access scores and tasting notes covering more than 195,000 wines, with the dataset including reviewer names, review dates and recommended drinking windows.
Lance Johnson, chief executive of JancisRobinson.com, said the partnership would make authoritative wine criticism easier for the trade to access and use.
“We are committed to providing the most authoritative and independent data in the fine wine world. This new API with Liv-ex is a vital step in making that data accessible. It’s about empowering the trade to make better, faster decisions, which ultimately serves wine lovers around the globe,” he said.
The API integration is available to all Liv-ex members. Wine businesses interested in accessing the data can contact the JancisRobinson.com team directly to arrange integration into their systems.
Founded in 2000 by Robinson, JancisRobinson.com has become one of the wine industry’s most widely used independent online resources, offering tasting notes, regional reports and educational content from a global network of contributors, including several Masters of Wine.
