Four new Australian producers have joined the Liberty Wines portfolio, as the distributor looks to champion “rising stars of premium cool-climate and single-site winemaking”.

The additions are: Luke Lambert, Patrick Sullivan and A. Rodda from Victoria, and Tasmania-based Decades.

The wines of all four producers will be shown at the Liberty Wines Australia Tasting on Tuesday, September 29. Both Patrick Sullivan and Adrian Rodda are due to attend in person to pour their wines.

Decades is described as a single-vineyard project centred around Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, co-owned by 2027 Halliday Winemaker of the Year Steve Flamsteed and brewer Brad Rogers.

Luke Lambert has a small production single-vineyard Yarra Valley Nebbiolo from the steep Denton View Hill vineyard, near Yarra Glen in the north of the region.

Meanwhile, Patrick Sullivan’s winemaking for Camp Hill, Bull Swamp and Ada River single-vineyard Chardonnays is described as “identical and uncomplicated to express Gippsland’s ancient volcanic soils with clarity”.

The A.Rodda wines are new to the UK and made in small quantities. The wines are described as “classy cool-climate wines” that “show why this tiny region in the foothills of the Victorian Alps has such an outsized influence on fine Australian Chardonnay”.

Lucy Perbellini, Liberty Wines portfolio director, said: “Luke Lambert, Patrick Sullivan and A.Rodda are part of a new generation of winemaking talent in Australia making serious, single-site wines in small quantities. The additions complement our existing, highly rated producers from Victoria – Giant Steps, By Farr and Irrewarra – while Decades sits perfectly alongside our Tasmanian producers Tolpuddle Vineyard and Chatto, whose wines are in high demand.”

Two masterclasses will also run during the tasting. In the morning session, Jeffrey Grosset will present a vertical tasting of his Polish Hill Clare Valley Riesling. For the afternoon session, Vanya Cullen will host a vertical tasting of her Diana Madeline Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon blend.
