London craft beer retailer Kill the Cat is closing its original store in the East End’s Brick Lane.

The company said its other on/off hybrid site in nearby Spitalfields would remain open after the Brick Lane outlet’s closure on July 28.

In an email to mailing list subscribers, Kill the Cat founders Phil Curl and Wes Anson said the decision to close the site had been influenced by “a number of factors”.

The statement said: “We’ve battled changing conditions and ridden out the Covid storm, but now is the right time to call it a day.

“A number of factors have influenced our decision but rest assured we have not taken it lightly.

“This was the original, so it’s with a heavy heart we have to say goodbye. It’s been a hell of a ride and we’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped make it the gloriously curious place it was.”

The Brick Lane site was Kill the Cat’s first outlet when it opened eight years ago. Spitalfields followed in July 2023.
