Drinks Retailing and the Wine and Spirit Trade Association will be hosting a panel discussion at this year’s London Wine Fair to address the challenges facing independent retailers.

Drinks Retailing editor Lucy Britner will be joined by WSTA chief executive Miles Beale, WSTA consultant Simon Cairns and top indie retailers, Hannah Wilkins from Vineyards in Sherborne and Hal Wilson from Cambridge Wine Merchants, to discuss the issues affecting the sector.

The panel: What’s keeping indie operators awake at night? will take place on the Centre Stage, Monday May 20 at 11.30am. Seats will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.

The discussion will cover topics including wine duty, Extended Producer Responsibility and labelling rules, among others. There will also be a Q&A session in which the panel will encourage an open discussion around the issues affecting independent drinks retailers.

Elsewhere, Drinks Retailing’s sister title Harpers Wine & Spirit will host sessions on the same day, including the announcement of the magazine’s 30 Under 30, and a talk about the cost of sustainability.
