Jancis Robinson OBE MW, ranked number two in Drinks Retailing’s Top 100 list, has been appointed patron of the Regenerative Viticulture Foundation (RVF).
The RVF said this reflects Robinson’s commitment to pursuing true holistic sustainability in wine.
Robinson has had a 50-year wine-writing career during which she has extensively advocated for lighter glass, raised awareness for environmental issues such as climate change and carbon capture, promoted recycling efficiency and discussed farming systems.
Recently, Robinson has focused on defining ‘true sustainability’, which includes regenerating vineyards through practices that improve soil health, biodiversity and resilience.
The MW will continue this mission as patron of the RVF, where she will amplify the foundation’s work alongside encouraging winegrowers, producers and consumers toward a more sustainable future.
Robinson said: “The Regenerative Viticulture Foundation plays a crucial role as the only global organisation dedicated to making regenerative farming practices scalable, credible and practical across the wine industry.
“Their work ensures that sustainable viticulture is not just an ideal, but a reality that benefits our planet and future generations.”
Stephen Cronk, co-founder and chair of the RVF, added: “Jancis’ unparalleled leadership in advocating for sustainability in wine makes her an ideal champion for the shift toward regenerative viticulture. Her influence will play a pivotal role in inspiring the industry to move beyond token gestures and embrace the kind of transformative change that is essential for the long-term health of our vineyards and the planet.”
