Isle of Arran Distillers has appointed independent spirits distributor Chimera Brand Development as its exclusive UK distributor.

Through the partnership, Chimera is set to distribute the distiller’s entire single malt portfolio, including Arran Single Malt and Lagg Single Malt.

Often described as “Scotland in miniature”, the Isle of Arran is home to two distilleries, Lochranza and Lagg, both of which are owned by Isle of Arran Distillers.

Lochranza, located in the north of the island, was founded in 1995 and is one of Scotland’s few remaining independent distilleries.

Meanwhile, Lagg Distillery, on the southern tip of the island, opened in 2019 and has become known for reviving a historical style of heavily peated whisky that was popular on this side of the island in the 18th century.

Chimera Brand Development will now distribute products from both distilleries across the off-trade and on-trade sectors.

Chimera said the partnership aims to deepen market penetration, drive premium visibility and elevate the identity of the twin island distilleries.

Euan Mitchell, MD of Isle of Arran Distillers, said: “As an independent distiller, finding a partner who truly understands our island’s unique heritage and the distinct identities of both our Lochranza and Lagg distilleries was paramount.

“The UK remains a vitally important and highly competitive market for single malts. Chimera’s progressive, targeted approach to brand development aligns perfectly with our vision.”

Seymour Ferreira, CEO of Chimera Brand Development, added: “We are incredibly proud to welcome Arran and Lagg into the Chimera family. These are exceptional, independently owned brands with an uncompromising dedication to quality and a clear point of difference.”
